I've seen croton or kuroton (in Japanese) in countries with tropical climate like Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and also in Okinawa, Japan. I recall seeing them everywhere but I did not know their name nor did I even give them a second look. Recently, I saw it as an artpiece.
